Abstract
The article analyzes posts on socially significant topics in news Telegram channels and VKontakte publications in Sochi. Defining the range of sources used in the creation of materials and analyzing the information flows initiated by the new media themselves, the author comes to the conclusion about the close relationship between new media and traditional media and defines the role of the former primarily as news repeaters, only rarely introducing their own information flows into the urban news system.
Keywords: urban new media, content, sources, socially significant topics, VKontakte publications, Telegram channels
