Abstract

The article describes in detail the construction of an interdisciplinary classifier, on the basis of which it is possible to conduct quantitative studies of political cartoons. This classifier integrates knowledge about cartoons from linguistics, social psychology, political science and the psychology of cognitive processes. In addition, the design of the classifier takes into account the theoretical ideas of Russian linguists about the need for a comprehensive analysis of the verbal and non-verbal parts of creolized texts.

Keywords: political cartoon/caricature, creolized text, multimodal text, axial coding, media research methods.
