Abstract

The article discusses the specifics of sports representation in modern Russian mass media. The author argues that within the framework of media discourse in Russia, sports are represented in a form that is truncated and often far from reality.

The key aspects of the representation of sports in the modern Russian mass media are the appeal to the narrow segment of sports of great achievements, as well as the emphasis on sport-related topics. At the same time, the representation of sports in the media in the Russian context is quite conservative: the greatest emphasis in publications is on coverage of sports events, and sport-related content is more often associated with political rather than entertainment topics

Keywords: sport, sports media, mediatization, content.
