The article is prepared on the basis of a report at a panel discussion "Mass Media in Countering Terrorism and Extremism" within the International scientific forum "Mass Media in the Modern World. 57th Petersburg Readings" that took place on April 19−20, 2018 at Saint Petersburg State University ("School of Journalism and Mass Communications").

Abstract

The report presents the results of a study of American and European media covering the topic of countering terrorism and extremism. The analysis of media texts was based on the criteria of "peace journalism" by J. Galtung.
