The article is devoted to the process of creating and promoting of China`s favorable image in the media. Chinese strategy to promote its favorable image abroad through traditional media and mass communication of new type, including the so-called social media, is studied in details. . The idea of the Chinese society is constructed by the global information field of postmodern discourse, where image acts as a determining factor in perception of the state in international relations. Undertaken by the government of China's efforts to promote a positive image through both traditional and new media contributed to raising the international prestige of the country, building trust in China among people in many countries. The author also analyses and summarizes the data of the Academy of Social Studies of China. The tendency for the improvement of the Chinese image over the last year is mentioned among other results of the study.
