The material is based on the report presented during the plenary panel discussion "The Reality of Media: Sociocultural Principles and Lingua Pragmatic Methods of Its Formation" at the Second International Scientific Conference "Language in Mass Media Coordinates", which took place on 2−6 of July, 2017 at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications of St. Petersburg State University.

Abstract

The article focuses on the fact that media rhetoric approach of studying modern metadiscursive practices should be included in a new paradigm of linguistic Sciences about the person speaking. Due to this the problem of formation of media topics in the modern media is regarded on the basis of existing archetypal topoi of Russian culture. Interpretation and transformation of the national system of topics – one of the sides of the strategic activities of the modern media, forming a new picture of the world that we today call media picture of the world. With the example of new media topic "Ukraine" the processes of change in mental dominant in modern Russian consciousness are understood.
