Material is based on the report presented during the interdepartmental scholar seminar "Prokhorov Readings", which took place on 21 March 2017 at the Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Abstract

The author analyses the coverage of religious topic in the Crimean press and Internet media in the context of its integration into Russian media system. Building upon the theory of agenda setting, the author compares real and media pictures of religious life in Crimea, which leads him to the conclusions regarding politicization of religion and folkloric and festive interest towards it. Besides, the increased level of state and political influence on journalistic activity impacting the formation of media agenda is noted.
